About me
Van Andel Institute Graduate School (VAIGS) is a young graduate school, started in 2007, housed in a biomedical research institute. We offer one program, a PhD program in molecular and cell biology. We are a small, accredited program in an independent biomedical research institute in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan (3 hours from Chicago, 2 hours from Detroit). Our small problem-based program is designed for hands on learners interested in using the latest techniques across fields and disease areas, including epigenetics, neurodegenerative disease, metabolism and nutritional programming, structural biology and cancer. Our small cohorts of 10-12 students are excellent learning opportunities especially for students looking for a tight knit collaborative learning environment.
